The shelby mustang is a high performance variant of the ford mustang which was built by shelby from 1965 to 1968 and from 1969 to 1970 by ford. Following the introduction of the 5th generation mustang in 2005 the shelby nameplate was revived as a new high performance model designed and built by ford. For the 2005 model shelby along with paxton designed a new variant based on the v6 mustang. Modifications include a supercharged motor producing 350 horsepower. In 2007 shelby and ford returned with the shelby gt500 boasting a 5. 4 l modular 500 hp supercharged v8 engine. Some other notable features include the tremec tr-6060 6-speed manual transmission, suspension tuning, brembo brakes with 4 piston calipers and 14” rotors up front, a body kit and 18 inch wheels. A collaboration of ford's special vehicle team (svt) and carroll shelby, the gt500 was produced in limited quantity from 2007 - 2009 (just over 10,000 units total). This particular example is a one owner car with just 5,855 original miles that has been garage kept since day one and has never gone out in the rain let alone the snow. It was optioned in vapor silver pearl with black stripes, a black leather interior and the shaker sound system with xm radio. For those owners of a 2007-2009 shelby gt500 mustang who found the 500hp from the factory to be insufficient, then the certified mad man carroll shelby offered a crazy upgrade package for these cars. Power outputs were increased significantly to either 605hp, or with the optional 2. 9l kenne bell twin screw supercharger, like this example here, to ã¢?? Looks are greatly enhanced with 20ã¢?â forge alcoa wheels, a fiberglass ram-air hood, a new stripe package, and carbon fiber front splitter and skirts. Larger brakes, upgraded suspension, an aluminum drive shaft, 3. 73 gears, and a cat-back exhaust rounded out the package. This particular super snake, an example from 2008, has gone even above and beyond the already ludicrous package offered by shelby. In addition to the baer 6 piston front brakes that come standard with the super snake package, the same brakes were added to the rear, providing tremendous stopping power. The suspension is a full frpp (ford racing performance parts) setup, and there is a heavy duty aluminum radiator to keep all of this monstrous power cool. Inside, there have been some great cosmetic upgrades done as well. The seats and steering wheel have been redone in 2 tone leather to match the exterior of the vehicle. The shelby emblem has also been stitched into the headrests, and the super snake floor mats appear to be completely unused. Under the hood also has some extra bling, as the optional kenne bell supercharger is in the polished chrome finish.
