this IS something special! A Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow "Rally Car". This is a creation of the Park-Ward Motors Museum inspired by various Rolls-Royces that actually competed in famous rally events world-wide over the years. She represents what we believe a 1970s Paris - Dakar type rally car would have looked like. This is a right hand drive, UK spec, Silver Shadow that came to us in the usual neglected state of some Silver Shadows we see. The car was gone thru by us and considerable mechanical work attended to bringing her up to speed; engine tuned, hydraulics refurbished (pumps, valves, accumulators, hoses, brakes etc). Cooling system flushed, drive-train serviced as needed. The suspension was lifted some 5" and heavy duty cross-country tyres fitted. The fuel tank was replaced with all supply systems serviced (pump, filters lines, carburetors rebuilt etc). The exterior of the car was stripped of its "unnecessary" bright-work (the grille and Spirit of Ecstasy is ALWAYS a necessity on a Rolls-Royce!). The cracked windshield was intentionally left as a must! There is rust in the rocker panels and lower fenders but these in no way effect the structural integrity. She is frame and body strong. The car was gutted of its original interior and fitted out with period looking rally racing get up. This includes 4 point harness front seats, a plethora of driving and spot lights, roof rack, jerry cans, "roo" bar at front, right down to an "outback" hessian desert water bag. Fun stuff to the interior include a 70's telephone, CB radio, fire extinguisher, small rally steering wheel, extra instruments and switches mounted "racing style" and diamond plate look finishes to the dash and door trims. We believe the empty cigarette packs, chocolate wrappers and coffee cups on the dash give her the final touch! It has the UK spec hi-compression engine fitted so she has considerable horse-power compared to conventional local examples. And, being significantly stripped down of many of her fittings, her power to weight ratio is evident in the way she gets up and goes. The rear brakes are currently not connected so as to maximise the standing-start torquing burn-out that she does effortlessly and hilariously (see video in link). The car shows some 6,000 miles but true mileage is unknown. This creation very well captures a time gone by when such a car was really used in cross country rallying. Many have asked; "is it real". I was at the 2017 RROC and surprisingly received a lot of accolades!! ~~.
