1953 packard clipper 4-door sedan this car combines two of the most importanttraits that are often not found together in one classic car --- low mileage(35,017) and original condition. It was kept in a storage facility for most ofits life. The first owner purchased this car brand new in 1953. He only drove itin the summer months, keeping it in storage the rest of the time. He put 31kmiles on it in nearly 60 years. When he was older and had lost his driver'slicense, the story is that he would sneak out at night and drive the car, so hiskids finally had to take the car away. It has a straight-eight 288cid motor and a 6 volt electricsystem. There is also a newly painted engine and engine bay with packard graypaint that is period correct. The packard company was started in 1899 by the packard brothers and their partner george weiss who was a major stock holder for winton cars. On november 6th 1899. Improving throughout the beginning of the turn the century until they closed their doors in 1958. S era clipper has that iconic bubble style that people fell instantly fell in love with. This one of a kind 53 has took that great styling and put a modern spin on the rest of it. Starting with the one of a kind blue paint that covers the unbelievably smooth paint sheet metal. Giving a stark contrast from that blue is the white top that has the classic silver flake scattered throughout. Naturally attitude with cars is a big thing and a big factor in that is altitude. Converted over to a 4 link in the back and bags all the way around the adjustability is literally endless. S a nice packer and looks nice. The bench seat is super comfortable and looks like it should be in there with the pattern mimicking the outside. The straight 8 under the hood is believed to be original and is one of the smoothest motors that i have come across. With the electrical system being converted over to a more modern 12v system there should be no problem running all the cool modern stuff including that compressor. What a gorgeous, impressive automobile! I bought it because i see a lot of value. Look at the massive amounts of chrome, wire wheels inside the wide white walls, new glove soft leather upholstery. People will think it's a $100,000 car. Very rare to have an automatic transmission, power steering and brakes in 1953! A fortune must have been spent on chrome! Redone bumpers, handles, rear fender fins, hood ornament, grill, headlight bezels etc. Stainless trim was professionally restored. Wire wheels look new. Windshield, weatherstrips, window seals have all been replaced. Interior is professionally restored. New soft leather upholstery, new door panels and carpet. Interior metal and steering wheel is repainted. New chrome on tops of doors. New tan convertible top. Has spare, jack and pair of skirts in the trunk. Clean motor compartment. Runs and drives smooth.
