I can honestly say that this maverick is in better condition than the day it was new. It is the most correct 1972 maverick that i have ever seen. The car is restored to original standards and equipment level as verified by a deluxe marti report. The gold glow metallic paint ford #5079-a and the ginger / black cloth/vinyl bench seat are as pristine as they were in 1972. The maverick was originally conceived and marketed as a subcompact "import fighter", intended to do battle with the volkswagen beetle and newer japanese rivals for north america from honda, datsun, and toyota. The falcon, ford's compact offering since 1960 and main rival to the chevrolet nova and dodge dart, had seen its sales decimated by the introduction of the mustang in 1964, and despite a redesign in 1966, was unable to meet the then forthcoming u. Consequently, the falcon was discontinued midway through the 1970 model year, and the maverick repositioned as ford's compact entry, giving the nova and dart a new rival. The maverick's styling featured the long hood, fastback roof, and short deck popularized by the mustang. It featured simple and inexpensive to manufacture pop-out rear side windows rather than roll-downs. This maverick is well optioned with, tinted glass, vinyl top, c-4 automatic, power steering, air conditioning, am radio, accent group, interior trim option, rear defogger and tinted glass complete.
