1934 pierce arrow 1240 a - volo, ilvolo auto museumvolo, il 60073ph: 8153853644web: n/aoptions:description:pierce arrow is among the three grand luxury car brands of pre-war america. Pierce arrow's demise in 1938 did little to diminish the timelessness of the automobiles themselves. Finding a good 8-cylinder model is an uncommon occurrence, and rarer still are the lavish 12-cylinder models, of which less than 300 were known to be built. 1934 was one of the last years the struggling automaker would produce these marvelous multi-cylinder cars. It was also a year in which the design of the pierce arrow body changed most significantly. The iconic archer ornament was now fixed in place to emphasize the car's contemporary and streamlined design. The 1934 pierce arrow limousine showcased here makes a strong impression with it's extensive 144 wheelbase. This model 1240a is correctly numbered at 3530015 which is consistent according to the pierce arrow society's documentation for an enclosed drive limousine. The car's cosmetic condition is best described as an older restoration with fair paint with a well maintained patina that's quite presentable. Chrome shows good to very good with sharp luster on the grille and bumpers. The interior upholstery and trim are good to very good, dash is well preserved and upholstery is free from rips and tears, further wear along the floor mats notwithstanding. An inspection from beneath reveals a respectable regimen of indoor storage with no visible rust through floor panels or frame members. The mammoth 462 cubic inch twelve cylinder engine runs good and exhibits little effort pulling away from a dead stop in second gear. The pierce v12's were incredibly durable engines for high cruising speeds and this example performs as it should. Dual sidemounts fog lamps leather chauffeur's seating clock trunk rack divider glass fold-away seating.
