The mg model b was produced from sept 1962 until july 1980 at the abingdon works facility. Many people consider the little roadster to be definition of affordable spirts car fun. This 1978 mgb is a great example of what these cars would look like from the factory. The limited edition black paint is clean with no major deficiencies the car shows extremely well. The original top was beginning to show its age so the current owner decided to replace it with a period correct one and now looks brand new. Under the hood the original 1798cc 4 cylinder is a viable option for a car that weighs less than 2000 lbs. The original electronic ignition is in great working order and seems to have no issues as the car starts right up and idles nicely. Power is smooth and really comes to life at the higher rpmã¢?? S just like it should. The 4-speed synchronized manual transmission shifts nicely with the clutch having great feel. The black interior on the car is as nice as everything else making this one of the most sought after of all mgbã¢?? This roadster had a restoration done and the black paint has held its fantastic finish along with the bumpers and chrome accessory pieces have a mirror like finish and the optional luggage rack and spare tire, as well as the newer beige cloth top does not look to have any imperfections. The interior is in an eye grabbing red vinyl with black accents as well as the dash and correct working gauges and comes with windows that can be zipped on to the top. The 1500cc inline-4 engine fires up and runs with no issues and the 4-speed manual transmission keeps this tf rolling through the years and gears. These mg's are definitely a blast from the past and with the suicide doors and great looks this is a car that be driven and enjoyed for many miles to come. Often referred to as 'the last of the square riggers' the rover tf gained this title due to its very strong resemblance to the pre-war midgets. It was no secret that the tf was a stop gap measure due to a delay in putting the long awaited mga into production. In mid-1954 the engine capacity was increased by 17 percent to 1466cc. The bore was increased to 72 mm (2. 8 in) and compression raised to 8. 3:1 giving 63bhp at 5,000rpm and a 17 per cent increase in torque. The car was now designated tf1500, production ended at chassis number tf10100 on 4 april 1955 after 9,602 tfs had been manufactured, including two prototypes and 3,400 tf1500s. The tf was superseded by the mga.
